I have officially tried it all, and then as soon as I gave up: hello engorgement!
How many times have you felt like giving up on breastfeeding due to your breast milk supply being low? I know I have been there many times. So when I tired coconut water and experienced this, I was more than annoyed. I have always wanted to try coconut water but have been so discouraged due to not knowing what it would taste like. I have googled, “what does coconut water taste like”, on many occasions, but have been extremely discouraged in trying it when I see that people have opinions like: “it tastes like pee” (how would one know that? Gross!) or “It tastes like sour or fermented water” (please stop).
For starters I would like to inform the public that coconut water is amazing. It does not taste like urine or sour/fermented water. It tastes like shaved coconuts that have been infused in water to create an amazing magical drink. Who needs Hawaii when you’ve got a cup full of sunshine like this?
I had no idea that when you drink this god sent liquid that it supplies your baby with nutrition so you can produce the hormones necessary for milk production. When you drink it while breastfeeding, you increase capric acid and lauric acid in your breast milk, which then boosts your baby's immunity and keeps him/her safe from infections.
Rest assure that you will be hydrated, your being a wonderful mama and it is extremely low in calories... so work it mama because you just did three good things in a just a few sips. Talk about a job well done!
